Welcome Back Mikkey!

Mikkey Tarantino - the watercolorist extraordinaire has returned to the Over the Mountain Studio Tour fold after nearly a decade of serving her family as a caretaker.   Why?  She now has some time of her very own to refocus on her art.  She missed the Tour community and likes to show her work.

Tarantino’s been painting and making since she was 6 or 7 – dolls, embroidery, sewing, painting.  “Anything to do with art filled my soul,” she explains.  “It’s part of the definition of who I am.”

So what will she be showing in November?  I asked her to give us a tease.  “I’m working freer, exploring with paint,” she says.  “Watercolor is my base and I’m adding inks of many types – alcohol, watercolor, zen-type doodling.   I work every day even if only for 10-15 minutes.  I try to keep my head in that creative space no matter what else is going on in my life.”

So welcome Mikkey’s return to the art stage and be sure to check out how her work has evolved.  I don’t know about you but that evolution of our artists is so fascinating to watch.  Their refusal to sit on their laurels, to risk to explore and innovate is a continual theme and is inspiring to watch.

She'll be one of 21 artist members at our November 9 and 10 Studio Tour. Check the website for more details - www.overthemountainstudiotour.com.
